適用范圍：1.1 This standard prescribes the methods of tests which are common to several detailed Indian standard specifications for individual oil pastes for paints. The standard contains definitions of terms used in trade and industry, methods of sampling, the requirements of form and condition and instructions regarding the preliminary examination of samples. It covers the methods of testing the finish, oil and pigment content, colour, residue on sieve, water content, and lead from the point of view of lead restriction and freedom from lead. Keeping properties and the require-ments for the marking and packing of paints, especially lead paints and lead-free paints, are also specified. The standard does not deal with materials but prescribes only the methods for determining whether they conform to the require-ments of individual standards.1.2 Test methods not described in this standard, and not specified in the standard for an individual material, shall be subject to agreement between the purchaser and the vendor.1.3 Should any inconsistency exist between the requirements of this standard and the standard for an individual material, the latter shall prevail.1.4 Unless otherwise specified, chemicals of the purest reagent grade shall be employed in thethis standard, British standards and the standards of the American Society for Testing Materials on the subject have been drawn upon freely, and the assistance so derived is acknowledged.This general standard of test methods is a necessary adjunct to the standard specifications for individual oil pastes for paints.This standard requires reference to the following Indian Standards :IS : 77-1950 Linseed Oil, Boiled, for Paints IS : 78-1950 Linseed Oil, Pale Boiled, forPaints IS : 84-1950 White Spirit for Paints IS : 229-1950 Ethyl Acetate IS : 231-1950 Amyl Acetatetests and distilled water shall be used where the use of water as a reagent is specified.1.5 This standard is intended chiefly to cover the technical provisions relating to the purchase of materials, but it does not include all the necessary provisions of a contract.
